On 29 January 2026, the Government promulgated Decree No. 48/2026/NĐ-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 08/2022/NĐ-CP dated 10 January 2022 detailing a number of articles of the Law on Environmental Protection, as amended and supplemented by Decree No. 05/2025/NĐ-CP dated 06 January 2025.
This Decree focuses on further decentralizing and reassigning authority in several areas of environmental management, including the development and issuance of plans for the treatment, remediation, and restoration of areas with particularly serious soil environmental pollution; the formulation and appraisal of dossiers for the establishment and the authority to recognize natural heritage sites; and the appraisal of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports. The objective is to enhance the effectiveness of state management and ensure alignment with practical requirements.
